The Shreveport, LA, vocal quartet Profyle consists of a pair of brothers and cousins who grew up together, inspired by the success and positive message of groups like Boyz II Men.
They began performing at local talent shows and caught the attention of a promoter during one performance, who introduced them to their future manager, Musa Moore. Moore had the group record their demo tape with producer V. Jeffrey Smith; this tape made its way to Kedar Massenburg, president of Motown Records, who offered Profyle a record contract. The group's debut album, Whispers in the Dark, followed in 1999.
